Djamel Beghal

Djamel Beghal is a French-Algerian abducted in the United Arab Emirates in July 2001. He was subjected to several types of torture and forced into confessions. Beghal was then sent to France where he stood trial. Even though, the Court explicitly stated that no evidence of the preparation of any plot had been recovered, except the statements he made under duress, Beghal was sentenced to ten years in prison. After his release, his ordeal did not end as he was reincarcerated.

Ibrahim Sharif

In 2008 Ibrahim Sharif, a British Citizen, was in Kenya. He had been in Kenya 2005 and 2006 without incident. However on Friday 8th August 2008, after being picked up off the street, he was detained in Mombasa.

Detainee BF

British citizen, Detainee BF, was already the victim of harassment by the UK security agencies on his travels to Pakistan. As it was realised that there was no evidence of wrongdoing, the security agencies instead began to target his family in the hope that they would turn on him.

AbdulHameed is a resident of Staten Island, New York , USA. He graduated from Tottenville High School and went on to study History in Hawaii. It is alleged that he is a ‘homegrown’ Islamist terrorist that attempted to join the Taliban and then the Iraqi insurgency via enlisting in the US Army.
