زعمت تقارير صحفية أن وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية الأمريكية قامت مؤخراً بإنشاء مقر سري لها في العاصمة الصومالية مقديشو، في إطار أنشطتها لمكافحة الإرهاب، فيما تباينت ردود المسؤولين الأمريكيين إزاء ما جاء في تلك التقارير

كشفت مجلة "ذي نايشن" أن وكالة الاستخبارات الأمريكية تستخدم مجمعا سريا في الصومال إضافة إلى سجن يقع في العاصمة مقديشو لتنفيذ أنشطة على صعيد مكافحة الإرهاب. ولكن مسؤولة أمريكية قريبة من أجهزة الاستخبارات دحضت العناصر التي أوردها تحقيق المجلة
