Dear Mr Keir Starmer,
I am a former Guantanamo Bay detainee. I attempted to report my detention, rendition and torture as well as the involvement of British citizens. I went to Brick Lane police station on the 18th January 2011. A Constable Ayers (HT 552) noted my report down and called back on the 19th January 2011 to tell me that it was out of British police force jurisdiction as it happened outside of the UK. Ayers said I should take my complaint to the European Court of Human Rights.
I am a British citizen and a crime has been committed against me by British citizens as well as citizens of other nations. I feel it unfair that I am prevented from reporting it as a crime to the police service.
I ask that you look into this matter and hope that you will come back to me with the good news that I can report the crime of Guantanamo and British citizens’ involvement to the police service.
Yours sincerely,
Feroz Ali Abbasi.
