They say a week is a long time in politics.  How about almost eight years, and counting, in the criminal “justice” system, with no end in sight. For Babar Ahmad, last Friday (3 June) saw the end of the trial of four police officers accused of assaulting him.

Buckland MP clearly puts the blame for the lame extradition laws on New Labour, disregarding what the Coalition government can clearly do to right this wrong. He also wears blinkers when addressing the injustice Babar and Co. are facing under this oppressive treaty. Cageprisoners is calling on the public to lobby their MPs to allow for Babar Ahmad to finally be given justice by calling for a fair trial in the UK.

Cageprisoners has received reports from the relatives of seven Muslim men held in the detainee unit at HMP Long Lartin that they will not be allowed to celebrate Eid ul-Fitr in the main prison. Despite having been permitted to perform ‘Eid prayers and celebrations in general population in the past prison authorities have told the men that they can celebrate ‘Eid on the sex-offenders wing instead.
